How do I get it back?
I tried going into setting and resetting the the file browser to defaults. Still nothing.
I tried exiting and restarting jupyter lab. I tried restarting my computer. Still nothing.
I tried looking at jupyter lab --show-config but that doesn’t show anything about the file browser.
Do I need to re-install jupyter-lab.
This is a serious bug.
I know it isn’t quite the same issue; however, I’d suggest trying some of the things suggested initially when looking into this issue.
Also, are you able to see the file browser if you select from the main menubar View > Show Left Sidebar?

Under view->show left side bar I can get a colum that says modified. I can see the File Browser icon there but this only lets me change settings. WAIT!!! I JUST FOUND IT. It had moved to the right hand side! I just clicked on the icon and there is an option “Switch SIdebar Side”.
It was hidding!!!
Some how some of my icons had move to the right side. Now I moved them all back to the left side.
