JupyterLab is applying to the Google Summer of Code 2024 under NumFOCUS umbrella. This topic is opened to discuss ideas by the contributors and project mentors.

NumFOCUS application has been approved by Google for GSoC 2024.
So if you are interested in contributing to JupyterLab this summer, have a look at our proposed ideas. And reach out to use in this thread or on the Gitter chat.

Iām very please to announce that Ronan, Ashok and Mehak Google Summer of Code 2024 proposals have been accepted.
Ronan will work on refactoring out the builder in a dedicated package
Ashok will work on defining extension entry points through JSON to only load features needed upon their request by the user
Mehak will work on using the Jupyter toolkit to have a more homogeneous user experience
