Change Launcher Icons - how?

Hi,

I would like to take stock of the topic: changing Launcher button icons, since I feel lost about it after hours of trying.

I understand that the problem can be addressed via javascript in more than one (complex?) way, and that in extreme a user can do an override of graphical settings. What I would like, however, would be a standard, clean way, as promised by the properties of the Jupyter objects. So I am asking if there is such a thing.

I understand that there are several places to define the path for the icon, and I don’t understand the respective priorities, since I wasn’t able to make it.

Going in order.
I tried using jupyter-app-launcher: I was not able to customize the icon.
I tried using jupyter-server-proxy: I failed to customize the icon.

I may have missed something from the documentation. So if anyone can help me get clarity I would be so grateful.

Thanks in advance!

Regarding the jupyter_app_launcher I found my answer in issue#35 of the github repository.

I have not tested whether this solution works in other cases, such as jupyter-server-proxy.
