Where to put .json file when using Google Groups

Using Helm to configure our Z2JH and want to manage user access to use Google Groups vs having to add individual students. I followed the readme Where should I put the .json file? Can the file be outside of the Kubernetes cluster or do I need to upload to Jupyterhub?
