Relationship between `jupyter_server_mathjax` and `jupyterlab-mathjax3`

I saw nbdime is now depending on jupyter_server_mathjax.

Since I’ve installed jupyterlab-mathjax3 in my jupyterLab I was wondering if they’re fine to have installed alongside each other, or if one is designed to replace the other?
