Moving the `notebook/` and `nbclassic/` repositories

We had an interesting conversation about a recent proposal to move the nbclassic and notebook repositories, specifically around “who should own this decision?”

We had a broader conversation about the importance of having trust in sub-projects to make the right decisions about the repositories they are responsible for, and how to balance that against the need for inclusive, participatory, and transparent processes for decision-making as a distributed community. I wanted to share where we landed, along with some of our rationale, in case it’s of interest to others:
