The note here: Installing on your own server — The Littlest JupyterHub v0.1 documentation states that running TLJH inside docker isn’t supported because it needs systemd. It then immediately links to (dev) instructions on how to set up TLJH in a docker container which has systemd. This is confusingly contradictory.
I think that this note should be re-written to clarify what is meant. I thought about making an Issue, but figured I’d ask here to make sure I’m not missing anything obvious.
Test environments and production environments often aren’t the same. While we can set up a special test environment for tljh using docker in order to test tljh components themselves, that is not the same as supporting actual production deployments in containers. Not supported is not the same as being impossible, though. More that bugs shouldn’t be reported about failing to work in a docker environment, etc.
There probably could be some clarification in the docs to that effect.
