Hi everyone,
I’m part of a team currently using SageMathCell for interactive computations (see: AI-Assisted Live Programming and Computing with Python, R, Sage, Octave, Maxima, Singular, Gap, GP, HTML & Macaulay2 - TSSFL TECHNOLOGY STACK). However, due to growing concerns about the long-term support for the classic Jupyter notebook interface, we’re considering a migration to JupyterLab for its modularity, broader community, and long-term viability.
We’re looking for guidance on:
- How to install and securely configure JupyterLab on a Linux VPS, accessible via a web browser.
- Any useful APIs or extensions that would support computational over the web with lightweight user interactivity.
- Recommendations or best practices for managing users, securing the environment, and possibly embedding notebooks or cells into a website.
- Experiences or advice from others who’ve transitioned from classic notebook setups or other lightweight computation tools.
This is part of an exploratory effort to ensure we’re not locked into unsupported tech and to assess whether JupyterLab could be a better long-term foundation. Any help, documentation, or examples would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Eli
