repo2docker will be soon upgrading from JupyterLab 3 (has reached end of maintenance this month) to JupyterLab 4.

If you are using JupyterLab extensions, some JupyterLab extensions may need updating 
- 
Since JupyterLab 4 requires Python 3.8, the Python 3.7 environment will continue to be on JupyterLab 3, but will not receive further updates. The next time the 3.7 environment requires updates, it will likely shift to kernel-only support, as we currently handle Python 3.6 and below.
