To install The Littlest Jupyter Hub in a air gapped environment

Hello all

Is it possible to install TLJH in an environment where the server does not have access to the internet? When I ran the bootstrap.py script, it hung and then failed. I have copied and installed the Ubuntu packages. I tried to fine any switches in the script that will prevent it from reaching the internet but I could not make out anything.

Any help much appreciated. Even if I get a no that will be awesome so I can pass it back up the chain.

TLJH is designed as an all-in-one installer that hides all the complexity. You’d have to rewrite it to work offline which means you’d lose almost all the benefits. You’re better off either

• Installing JupyterHub manually after downloading all the Python and NPM packages
• Running JupyterHub with Docker since it’s relatively easy to download images (probably easiest, see GitHub - jupyterhub/jupyterhub-deploy-docker: Reference deployment of JupyterHub with docker)
• If you’re using a public/private cloud then build a cloud VM image (e.g. Using Packer, or manually) and import that.
