We at the Computational Social Science department of GESIS – Leibniz-Institute for the Social Sciences is looking for someone that is passionate about open source material that help researchers to gain data competences. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the Jupyter Ecosystem.

Your tasks will be:

  • Design and development of an intuitive and user-friendly toolbox that allows for easy integration of analysis scripts
  • Development and implementation of a concept for community features within the toolbox
  • Researcher support in developing tools to be integrated in the toolbox
  • Researcher support in developing interactive self-assessment material
  • Documentation of processes related to the toolbox

Your profile:

  • University degree (diploma, master’s degree or comparable degree) in computer science or a similar discipline (e.g. data science, software engineering)
  • Experience with front-end development (CSS/SASS and JavaScript; not required but welcome: full-stack development, and database administration)
  • Familiar with R and/or Python (especially with Jupyter Notebooks)
  • Optional: Familiar with Quarto and/or Rmarkdown
  • Very good command of written and spoken English and German language skills are desirable
