Have been learning Jupyter, and just recently came across Marimo. Was curious if the community had any thoughts on it. Started playing around with it, and it seems pretty cool. Have seen a few trendy HNs & Reddit posts about them, but not very much tutorial content yet on YouTube.
I think there will always be a market for apps like Marimo because Jupyter does not come with batteries included the way they do - thatβs because Jupyter is not opinionated but apps like Marimo can be.
I think Marimo may be a nice experience, but I would not personally put my research data in it to avoid vendor lock-in. I also think that Marimo demonstrates what Jupyter should look like in 2024 - there is some good ideas there. Maybe in some time we could see a Jupyter-based distribution which comes with these batteries included, who knows?
