Jupyter lab desktop startup directory

HI

I have been using the desktop app for a while and saved a lot of work to a directory on my Mac’s drive. However, whenever i start the app to create a new program, it defaults to my root folder.
Is there anyway to set the default directory to my own working directory?

Preferably without need a PhD in how to use the Mac terminal and edit a load of config files - all hints at how to do this for the browser based app (usually via anaconda or terminal to start it) don’t seem t be usable for the desktop app

thanks

In case anyone else finds this, at the top right of the JupyterLab Desktop window, select the three horizontal bars (hamburger), then select Settings.

JLD-hamburger

Then select Server on the left of the Settings window, and you can Change the Default working directory.
