To help you compose your answer: I am a naif, a very new beginner person with all things coding. I am trying to use jupyter lab in order to learn Python in order to raise my geographic information system (GIS) map-making skills. (I use QGIS.) I came to jupyter lab through the University of Helsinki free online course “[Geo-Python](https://geo-python.github.io/site/course-info/course-info.html)”. I understand human language well (native English, pretty good with Spanish). But I do not understand most of the terms I see members posting here. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Using a MacBook Pro on which I run OS Mojave (10.14.2). I just installed jupyter yesterday (Thursday the 27th of April 2023); I don’t know what version that makes me, but it’s “fresh” today. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: **The question** When, in the Mac terminal window, I type “jupiter lab” at the prompt (as directed in the Un.of Helsinki course material), the result is Segmentation fault: 11 How do I get past this and get jupyter lab to run? It appears that someone else is experiencing this very recently as per report on: [conda - JupyterLab Packaging (jlpm) Segmentation Fault - Stack Overflow](https://stackoverflow.com/q/76124633/6646912) and they are also using MacBook. Did you install jupyter from `conda-forge`, or in a different way? If so would you be happy to provide a full `conda list`? Could you try running `jupyter lab --debug` and list all output prior to the crash (if any)? ---

Same issue here, since today, also with Mac OSX Mojave (10.14.6). Yesterday I ran `conda update jupyterlab ` and I updated the macport packages. i don’t use macos nor conda, but as far as i understand the problem, you can only hope this gets fixed in conda forge dependencies. in the meantime an alternative would be to try to install jupyterlab via `pip install jupyterlab` ---

You can recover a working environment with last jupyterlab version by pinning libffi to 3.3. `micromamba create -f https://prefix.dev/envs/marcbernot/mojave/conda-lock.yml -n mojave` or `conda create -n testmojave python=3.9 libffi=3.3 notebook jupyterlab`. I have same problem… ISSUE segmentation fault SYSTEM Mac Mojave 10.14 Conclude some version does not support Mojave 10.14; I cannot upgrade above 10.14 likely conda itself since I have been updating it; can I revert to an older conda?
