Interesting. Sixteen days ago, there was [this related report](https://discourse.jupyter.org/t/how-to-troubleshoot-when-matplotlib-plots-require-pyplot-show/37528) of much the same experience.

Unfortunately, there was no follow-up after that. As you’ll see, what was provided in the initial post didn’t offer enough details to really formulate how to proceed.
