We would like to put a “widget” in the output of a cell. Are there any alternatives to [ipywidgets](https://ipywidgets.readthedocs.io/en/latest/)?

Is ipywidgets the most “modern” way of doing this, or is there an alternative method using an ordinary JupyterLab extension?

I’m wondering if, perhaps, there is a standard way of adding output to the `outputs` array of a cell.
